Volunteer Positions with Flora and Fauna of Aotearoa

Do you want to be part of the flora and fauna team? We are living in a time of rapid change and our environment and wildlife are under immense pressure from human activity. We need a major shift in how we do things and we are here to support this shift with positive sustainable solutions.

Our main focus is advocating for the natural world and teaching and promoting Kaitiakitanga throughout Aotearoa. If you have the skills and the drive to work with us on behalf of our precious earth, check out our currently open team roles below and please get in touch.

TEAM ROLES

Part-time voluntary positions (approx. 5-10 hours a week) that run for 1 year minimum. Time Bank credits (1 hour = 1 credit) apply for those living in the Far North Tai Tokerau TimeBank region. As we develop we will look into other forms of exchange to support our volunteers.

Funding & Sponsorship Co-ordinator – We need someone who is able to assess funding streams and secure funds for various projects. You should be able to write funding applications to a high standard and manage a portfolio of Funding & Sponsorship.

  • help to develop a sponsorship program
  • manage funding streams with trustees for particular projects
  • work closely with our team of trustees on our main areas of interest (in person, by email, phone and/or via Zoom video conference)

Researcher & Copy Writer – We are looking for a top quality researcher and copy writer to research a variety of topics and prepare summaries and articles for our website, newsletter and for information transfer. Topics range from scientific research, conservation reports, environmental care through to sustainable land management practices.

  • research various topics/read scientific papers and provide summary accounts to our core team
  • write articles on particular topics for our website and newsletters
  • proof reading and information processing
  • work closely with our team of trustees on our main areas of interest (in person, by email, phone and/or via Zoom video conference)

Social Media Co-ordinator – We are looking for a social media super star to help us increase our online profile, promote our values and increase our membership. You must be able to work in a team and work independently. You need to be creative and innovative with limited resources and able to promote our organisation to a high level on a variety of different social media platforms. Mange accounts and make regular posts to engage people.

  • create new and interesting content relevant to our current work
  • post new content 1-2 a week
  • help with creative campaigns to raise awareness
  • work closely with our team of trustees on our main areas of interest (in person, by email, phone and/or via Zoom video conference)

Website Co-ordinator – We need a website superstar who is familiar with wordpress blogs and other creative online website platforms. You will be able to put up our supplied content on our website regularly and with style.

  • editing pages, adding new content, offering design advice
  • work closely with trustees to develop a functional, beautiful and informative website that brings our message and work to life
  • work closely with trustees on our main areas of interest (in person, by email, phone and/or via Zoom video conference)

Local Co-ordinator – Promote Flora and Fauna of Aotearoa in your community with support from our national team in the way of materials, national initiatives and other creative opportunities.

Trustee Positions

Treasurer – We are looking for a new Trustee to join our team as Treasurer. You must have excellent financial literacy, attention to detail and strong enthusiasm for the goals and values of Flora and Fauna of Aotearoa.
